uaetodaynews.com — Khloe Kardashian slams fitness trainer for calling her ‘fat’ during exercise class

Khloe Kardashian has addressed the fatphobic culture of the early 2000s, recalling being called ‘fat’ during a workout.

The 41-year-old was on her way to an event at Barry’s Bootcamp in Studio City, California, during the season seven premiere of The Kardashians, when she reminisced about her past experiences with co-founder Barry Jay.

While sitting in traffic, the reality star rang sister Kourtney Kardashianwhere the mom-of-two divulged what the trainer had previously said to her.

‘Remember when Barry called me fat?’ she asked Kourtney. ‘This was years and years ago, and we were running and I stopped. And he was like, “That’s what you’re fat!” and I was like, “That’s why I’m here!”‘

In a piece to camera interview, Khloe said at the time she was ‘fatter’ than she is now.

‘We were working out and I remember taking a break because I couldn’t run and he was like, “That’s why you’re fat,”‘ she exclaimed.

She added: ‘I just remember (thinking) “God, that’s a weird way to encourage people.”‘

But Khloe then dismissed the slight, saying it was a ‘different time.’

‘This was, like, 2006. Biggest Loser and diet pills,’ she listed. ‘You were allowed to call people fat. But we never spoke after that. That’s literally the whole exchange.’

Daily Mail has reached out to Barry’s Bootcamp for comment.

The Kardashians have often gone to Barry’s Bootcamp to work up a sweat, with the studio featured in their short lived spinoff show Kourtney And Kim Take New York, which aired from 2011 to 2012.

Khloe had previously opened up about body image issues she faced during the early days of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

‘When the show first started, I was very secure, very secure,’ she admitted during a reunion in 2021.

‘And then during the first couple seasons, I became insecure because of the public opinions of myself. Then I had, I think, a good run of being secure, and then I think recently I’ve become insecure again. So I guess it just goes, you know, up and down,’ she reflected.

Khloe has seen a physical transformation over recent years, undergoing a massive 40-pound weight loss.

The reality star has attributed her new lean physique to following a strict diet and exercising regularly.

In 2024, while appearing on the SHE MD podcast, the mother-of-two recalled being 204 pounds when she gave birth to her daughter True, who she shares with ex Tristan Thompson.

Although she had previously lost a lot of weight following her split from ex-husband, Lamar Odom, by hitting the gym daily.

She admitted she was initially nervous about whether she could trim down again because it took ‘so many years to do it the first time.’

‘But, because I had all the tools in my toolbox, I knew what to do and I actually lost my pregnancy weight so much faster than I ever did my regular fat weight,’ she noted.

She also reflected on being use to being ‘overweight a lot’ of her life.

‘God, I mean my weight-loss journey. It took years for me. I’ve always been chubby – like athletic. I’ve always played sports. I just was never in shape,’ she said.

Khloe – who shares True, six, and son Tatum, two, with Tristan – also confessed to being an ’emotional eater’ during her younger years.

‘I used to be a major emotional eater for sure, but then when I was done, I would always be like, “Wait!” I would feel so good eating. And then… so bad after,’ she admitted.

‘And then I would cry and probably do it again because I was sad so I needed the ice cream again. And it was this crazy repeat cycle, but I gave myself a lot of patience and I just took my time.’
