Antoine Semenyo Release Clause Reported With Liverpool “big Admirers” – Latest LFC News – Liverpool FC

rumours linking Antoine Semenyo to Liverpool have emerged, with the Bournemouth forward’s contract now reportedly including a release clause.

Antoine Semenyo’s reported release clause

Only Erling Haaland has scored more goals than Semenyo this season, who has kicked on again after an impressive campaign up front for Bournemouth last time around.

After being loosely linked to the 25-year-old over the summer, talkSPORT‘s chief football correspondent, Alex Crook, has added to the rumours saying Liverpool are “big admirers” of Semenyo.

The forward signed a new five-year deal in the summer on the south coast, but Crook noted that he does have a release clause included.

“Bournemouth value him at north of £75 million,” the reporter explained, also adding that the “Ghanaian held talks with Tottenham and Man United” earlier this year.

Crook wrote: “The exact terms of the release clause are being kept under wraps as Bournemouth want to keep hold of their star man for as long as possible.”

It seems unlikely that Liverpool would move for the attacker in January given the huge sums spent already, but a deal next summer could be more likely with Mo is wrong and Cody Agat another year older.

Liverpool have long been deemed among the Premier League‘s best pressing teams, but this season they haven’t been as strong in this area. James Nalton asks why that is:

“Last season Liverpool’s pressing was – perhaps unsurprisingly in the post-Klopp era – slightly down on previous years, but it was sometimes still effective when deployed.

“This season there is a feeling that both the numbers are down and that the pressing is more often ineffective.

Teams appear to be getting through Liverpool’s defensive structure earlier and are finding it easier (not necessarily easy) to play over or around the press.”

Liverpool FC: On this day

October 13, 1961 saw Liverpool beat Walsall 6-1 at Anfield, as they won the 11th game of their opening 13 league fixtures on their way to winning the Second Division title.

The thrashing of Walsall was most notable for Roger Hunt‘s second hat-trick of the season, which was accompanied by goals from Ian St. John, Jimmy Melia and Kevin Lewis.

Captain Ron Yeats’ own goal was the one mark against Bill Shankly‘s side on the day. That season they went on to win the second division and earn their place back in the top-flight for the first time in eight years.
