Salah (33 years old) was excluded from Liverpool’s 19-player roster to face host Inter Milan this Tuesday evening in the Champions League, after the Egyptian international said that he had become a “scapegoat” for the team’s recent disappointing career.

Salah said that he no longer has a relationship with Dutch coach Sloat, and that “someone” does not want him in the club with which he scored 250 goals and won two English Premier League titles and one Champions League title during eight unforgettable years at Anfield.

When asked whether Salah would play for the club again, Sloat said during the press conference he held before facing Inter Milan, “I have no idea. I cannot answer this question currently.”

Slott answered questions about Salah’s story for 10 minutes, and admitted that he was surprised by the player’s comments after he sat on the bench and did not participate in the 3-3 draw against Leeds United last week.

He added, “I was somewhat surprised when I heard after the match that he made these comments. But I think our reaction was also clear, and that is why he was not with us tonight (in Milan to face Inter).”

When asked if he felt that Salah’s anger was directed at him, Slott said, “The only person who can answer that question is Mohamed Salah himself. I can guess, but I don’t think this is the right thing to do at this moment. So, it’s difficult for me to say who he meant by that situation.”

Salah was subjected to harsh criticism due to his performance this season, and he sat on the bench in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over West Ham United last month, and came on as a substitute during the 1-1 draw with its guest Sunderland, but he sat on the bench and did not participate in the Leeds match, a result that made Liverpool occupy ninth place.
