Every Reason To Be Very Positive
Arne Slot has claimed there is “every reason to be very positive” after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leedsbut fans may feel differently!
The Premier League champions threw away two points in the Premier League on Saturday evening, blowing 2-0 and 3-2 leads at Elland Road.
It was a result that heaps further pressure on Slot at Liverpool, especially following Mohamed Salah‘s shock post-match comments.
Speaking in his press conference, the Reds’ head coach felt that there were still plenty of positives to take from it.
“I think the two things you just said: the result and the manner where we conceded the goals,” Slot said.
“The way the whole game went for us. For me, it felt there were so many positives to take from this game, which has happened to us so many times this season where you felt like there are so many positives to take, except for the result.
“Then it would’ve been nice to get that result combined with the performance.
“But not for the first time this season we’ve conceded goals and dropped points…a VAR intervention that leads to a penalty, the first chance they had, which was the 2-2 because the 2-1 wasn’t a chance.
“I think the ball is already out, there was contact, so he gave a penalty. Then the first chance from football of them led to the 2-2. Then we had a fantastic attack to (score) the 3-2.
“But what we have to do to score a goal is doing many things right. Unfortunately, we concede…I wouldn’t say too easy, because we hardly gave away a chance, but when we do it’s a goal.”
Some basic facts:
• 2 league wins since September 20th
• 4 wins in 15 (all comps)
• Failed to score in first half in 10 of 15 league games
• Thrown away 2-goal lead four times this season
• 15 wins in the last 33 games (all comps)— This Is Anfield (@thisisanfield)

Strange comments from under-fire Slot
Slot is acting like a man feeling the pressure, with his comments in press conferences becoming bewildering by the week.
He is a far cry from the unruffled figure that made such an imperious start at Liverpool, with supporters fast losing faith in him.
Granted, there were elements of positivity against Leedsnot least Hugo Ekitike‘s double, but it was another concerning showing overall.
Once again, Ibrahima Konate was at the scene of the crime, conceding a needless penalty, and Liverpool’s mental fragility was alarming in the latter stages.
Slot is naturally going to look for positives, if only to ease the heat on him, but the brutal reality is that there is little to admire, and that has been the case since August.
With Salah’s comments further adding fuel to the fire, Slot is battling than ever to save his job, and defeat at Inter Milan on Tuesday night could be fatal.
