The “Jamran” satellite continues its missions for three years
The head explained Space group Muharram Gayathond said that the company affiliated with the Ministry of Defense has been working in the field of developing electronics and communications technologies for than five decades, and that its space sector, which was launched thirty years ago, has witnessed great progress.
He added that Satellite “Sina” was the first Iranian space project to transfer technology and sensor imaging with a resolution of 150 meters, followed by the launch of the local satellite “Amid” in 2008 as the first fully national satellite.
He stated that Iran continued to develop its satellites to expand their civilian uses, as the “Fajr” satellites were designed for high-resolution imaging, and the development of the “Simorgh” launch missile enabled the country to send satellites weighing up to 200 kilograms into orbits at an altitude of 500 kilometers.
Gayathond pointed out that the Jamaran satellite, which was launched in September 2024, is considered the heaviest Iranian operational satellite to date. It was developed within a joint project between the Ministry of Defense, the Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guard, and the Iranian Space Organization, and achieved new operational results a year after it entered orbit.
He also revealed that the “Martyr Soleimani” system, which includes about 20 satellites to collect Internet of Things data, is witnessing remarkable progress, and its experimental “Hatif” satellites are scheduled to be launched before the end of the current Iranian year.
He added that other space projects are under implementation, including the “Toulo” satellite, which was delivered to the space organization in preparation for its launch, and its imaging accuracy is less than three meters, in addition to the “Pars-2” project, with an imaging accuracy of 2.5 meters, which is scheduled to be launched soon.
Gayathond concluded by saying that Iran has made great progress in space technologies and has become among a limited number of countries capable of manufacturing operational satellites for optical and radar imaging.
